Infinitec announces 'world's first' Infinite USB memory drive

As mesmerizing as it sounds. The worlds first USB drive with unlimited data streaming is here.

Infinitec has debuted what is reportedly the world’s first Infinite USB memory drive, allowing users to stream content from their PCs to most other gadgets all thanks to a little USB stick.
The Infinitec IUM is a plug-and-play device that claims to be compatible with with any device that supports traditional flash drives or has a USB port. Users can stream and share content, even HD media, between devices over a Wi-Fi network (802.11b/g/n).
Since it streams rather than holds content, there is an “infinite” amount of storage space. Get it?
Some suggested devices include computers/laptops/netbooks, gaming consoles (i.e. Xbox 360, Wii and PS3 if it ever works again), DVD/Blu-ray players and even digital photo frames. Just note that the host laptop for the drive, however, has to be running Windows XP, Vista or 7.
Infinitec is planning a major international release for their little gadget, when it is debuted in the U.S., Canada, Europe and the Middle East this July 1 for $129. That price, though, could change from country to country.

Switch to AHCI in Windows 7 ! (post Installation)

AHCI stands for Advanced Host Controller Interface. Its a technology for our hardware peripherals which enables our other hardware to communicate with more efficiently and hence improving our machines performance.

If you want to switch to AHCI after installing Windows 7, you’ll need to modify your registry and boot settings. I highly recommend to take your time to work through this Windows 7 tutorial, because AHCI has many advantages: It allows you to use hard drive features, such as NCQ (Native Command Queuing) or eSATA-Hot-Plugging, which can speed up Windows 7 if you are using a RAID drive.

1. Open regedit.exe (enter regedit.exe into search field)
2. Uncollapse the registry keys: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\services\msahci

3. Modify the key “Start” to “0″
Alternatively, you can download our registry tweak or insert the following text into a notepad, save it as a .reg file and start it:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\msahci]
“Start”=dword:00000000

4. Next time you restart, Windows 7 will load the default drivers for AHCI (msahci.sys) and will use it for queuing SATA-controllers and their drives that run in AHCI-mode. So, the next step will be to switch your current SATA controllers from IDE to AHCI, else Windows 7 would still queue them via IDE and note via AHCI.

5. Restart and press “del” during start up to enter the BIOS.
Find your SATA-controller (read your motherboards manual for instructions) and change the mode from IDE to AHCI. Keep in mind that some motherboards don’t even support AHCI!

6. Done. You successfully switched to AHCI in Windows 7. Your disk performance can increase significantly if you are using a RAID drive and AHCI. A RAID drive is basically a combined set of two drives (of the same type and size)  for better reliability/performance.

Rock N Roll using Hologram technology ..

A first ever and one of its kind performance by neurosonics.

Neurosonics Live from Chris Cairns on Vimeo.

NeuroSonics, Inc. has developed two related technologies, both based on analyzing brain waves through an EEG attachment to a user. As with all EEG and EKG equipment, the leads are electrically isolated to eliminate the possibility of electrical feedback through the leads. No current flows through the leads.

In the existing NeuroSonics prototype, the EEG is attached to the user through three leads which are attached to the forehead and scalp. In the final product, the EEG leads will be attached to the user’s forehead and scalp through a specially designed adjustable cap that will provide for proper lead placement and electrical connection.

Both technologies exist in a laboratory prototype which demonstrates proof-of-concept. Demonstrations of the technology can be arranged in either NeuroSonics’ Baltimore or Boston prototype laboratories.

NeuroSonics, Inc. (NSI) was founded to secure patents and develop commercial applications for two unique technologies which allow the control of computers by brain waves. The technologies are also expected to have stress-reduction and potentially other health and medical applications.

Enjoy !! :)

Resize Windows Partition using

If you need to resize partitions from Windows 7, you don’t need a third-party tool. Just like you have on Windows Vista, you can resize partitions in Windows 7.

How to resize a partition in Windows 7?

In order to resize partitions in Windows 7, you have to open the Disk Management utility. To do that, go to the search bar in your Start menu and type ‘create and format’. Now click on the link that comes up on top.

In the Disk Management window that appears, you’ll see all partitions of your computer listed one by one.
Right click on the partition that you want to resize, and then choose the ‘Shrink Volume’ option. Windows will now query for available disk space.

In the Shrink Volume window that appears next, type the amount you want to shrink by in the ‘Enter the amount of disk space you want to shrink in MB’ label. For example, to shrink the partition from 25 GB to 20 GB, type 5000 in the text box.

Click Shrink. You’ve just resized a partition in Windows 7 and shrunk it!
If you want to increase the size of a partition without shrinking it, use the Extend Volume option from the right click menu.
That’s how you resize partitions in Windows 7!

Disclaimer: Make sure that you backup all your data before resizing. We’re not responsible for any damage caused.

Open DNS Locates Websites Quicker, Protects You from Phishing Websites

You may find that, using your ISP’s DNS (Domain NameServers), sites can take a while to load. OpenDNS is the answer to that! From the mouth of OpenDNS, “OpenDNS is the world’s leading provider of Internet navigation and security. Make your network safer, faster, smarter and more reliable without the cost and complexity of traditional security services.” OpenDNS also has “typo correction”, in which, if you were to type craigslist.og, it’d automatically redirect you to craigslist.org. It also has a phishing site blocker, which wouldn’t let you go to any sites known to be fraudulent. One of the other many features is that, from the control panel online, you can configure it to block different categories of sites (so maybe you want pornography and social networking sites blocked, and it gets done!), even better, it won’t let you through to proxies, so you can’t bypass it!

Step 1

To start, go to https://www.opendns.com/start. The free version should be fine for basic use, so click “Sign up”.

Step 2

Type in your details, and you’re almost done!
This screen will come up:
opendns 500x233 Open DNS Locates Websites Quicker, Protects You from Phishing Websites, and More...

Step 3

As it says, it’d be the best option to set it up on your router. Click that, and then the manufacturer of the router, follow the instructions, and you should be good to go. If you don’t have a router, or would prefer to use your computer, click the Computer button and follow the instructions there. You can also view the article here.

Step 4

If you ever want to check that OpenDNS is active, just go here or visit http://www.opendns.com/welcome. If there is a tick, then it means it’s all working, otherwise, you may need to restart, or follow what it says on the page.

Enjoy internet in a faster and safer, hence a Smarter way ! :)

10 common issues you can fix with a registry hack

10 common issues you can fix with a registry hack
By Brien Posey

If you read any article that involves editing the registry, you will no doubt see ominous warnings telling you that you can destroy Windows and/or your applications if you edit the registry incorrectly, and that you should always make a full system backup before performing a registry modification. While these statements may be true, the fact remains that there are things that you can do by editing the registry that you simply cannot do with the GUI. In this article, I want to share with you 10 handy registry hacks for Windows XP and Vista.

1: Disable AutoPlay
I always find it a bit annoying to insert a  CD and have Windows open Internet Explorer and display a bunch of information I don't care about. I would rather just be able to navigate through the disc's file system and go directly to what I need. Fortunately, it's easy to create a registry setting that disables AutoPlay:
1. Navigate through the Registry Editor to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer.
2. Create a DWORD named NoDriveTypeAutoRun.
3. Set the value to 000000FF.

2: Increase the maximum number of simultaneous downloads
As a technical writer, I'm constantly downloading files. Sometimes I need to download a lot of files, and Windows' limit on the number of files that can be downloaded simultaneously gets in the way. If you're in the same boat, you can tweak the registry so that Windows will let you download 10 files at a time:
1. Navigate through the Registry Editor to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings.
2. Create a new DWORD named MaxConnectionsPerServer and assign it a value of 0000000a.
3. Create a new DWORD named MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server and assign it a value of 0000000a.

3: Change the name of the registered user
When you install Windows, you're prompted to enter a username and a company name. But since it's fairly common for companies to merge, you may want to change the name of the company Windows is registered to by using this hack:
1. Navigate through the Registry Editor to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion.
2. Change the values that are assigned to the RegisteredOwner and RegisteredOrganization keys to reflect the new ownership information.

4: Prevent the Recycle Bin from being deleted
If you've ever right-clicked on the Windows Recycle Bin, you know there's a Delete option, which can be used to get rid of it. If you want to prevent the Recycle Bin from accidental deletion, follow these steps:
1. Navigate through the Registry Editor to HKCR\CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}.
2. Create a new registry key called Shell.
3. Create a new registry key named Delete and put it beneath the Shell key. The path should look like this: HKCR\CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\Shell\Delete.
4. Modify the Default key and assign it a value of Recycle Bin.

5: Eliminate cached logons
Windows is designed to allow users to log on using cached logins if no domain controller is available to authenticate the request. If you want to make sure that a login request is always authenticated by a domain controller, you could change the number of cached logons that are allowed from 10 to 0 (or you could increase the number of cached logins allowed to 50). To do so, follow these steps:
1. Navigate through the Registry Editor to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\winlogon.
2. Create a new REG_SZ setting named CachedLogonsCount.
3. Assign this new setting a value that reflects how many concurrent cached logins you want to allow.

6: Encrypt and decrypt from a shortcut menu
Normally, when you want to encrypt or decrypt a file in XP Pro or Vista, you just right-click on the file or folder and choose the Properties command from the shortcut menu. When the properties sheet appears, click the Advanced button on the General tab and then use either the Encrypt or the Decrypt option.
If all that seems like a lot of work, you can add those options to the shortcut menu you see when you right-click on a file:
1. Navigate through the Registry Editor to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced.
2. Create a new DWORD called EncryptionContextMenu and assign it a value of 1.

7: Delay Windows Activation
Typically, when an organization deploys Vista, it will create a master image, run SYSPREP, and deploy the image. But it might be a while between the time that SYSPREP is run and when Vista is actually deployed. Microsoft will allow you to extend the activation period by 30 days, but you can do that only three times. You can, however, use a registry hack to get around this limitation:
1. Navigate through the registry to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SL.
2. Change the value associated with the SkipRearm key to 1.
3. Open a Command Prompt window and enter the following command: slmgr –rearm.

8: Relocate your offline files
When you use Vista's Offline Files feature, the offline file cache is automatically placed on your C: drive. But my laptop has two hard drives in it, and I wanted to configure Vista to place my offline files onto my secondary hard drive. I accomplished the task by following these steps:
1. Open the Control Panel and click on the Network And Internet link, followed by the Offline Files link. Windows will display the Offline Files properties sheet.
2. Disable offline files if they are currently enabled.
3. Click OK and reboot the machine.
4. When the computer reboots, open the Registry Editor and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\CSC.
5. Create a new string value named Parameters.
6. Assign this value to the Parameters key:
\??\e:\csc
where e: is the drive letter you want to use.
7. Exit the Registry Editor and reboot the computer.
8. When the machine reboots, enable offline files.
9. Reboot the computer one last time. Now, you can start making folders available offline.
10 common issues you can fix with a registry hack

9: Disable User Account Control
One of the things about Vista that seems to irritate a lot of people is the User Account Control feature. In essence, an administrator is treated as a standard user. Administrators who attempt to perform an administrative action receive a prompt asking whether they initiated the action. I think that this prompt is a valuable safeguard against malware, but since a lot of people don't like it, here's how to use the registry editor to suppress the prompt:
1. Navigate through the registry editor to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System.
2. Change the value of the ConcentPromptBehaviorAdmin key to 00000000.

10: Don't display the last user who logged in
Windows Vista is designed so that when you press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to log in, it will display the name of the user who logged in most recently. This can be a bit of a problem if multiple users share a common PC. They may forget to check to see who was logged in previously and key in their own password in association with another user's login name. If they try this enough times, they could lock the other user out. You can get around this problem by using a simple registry tweak to tell Windows not to display the name of the user who was logged in previously:
1. Navigate through the Registry Editor to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System.
2. Set the DontDisplayLastName key to a value of 1.

Detailed Review of Windows 7 Mobile

Microsoft has revealed their new windows phone 7 series device at Mobile World Congress 2010. Windows Phone 7 seems to be next generation device which seems to have taken a big jump in the smart phone area. Almost every one has a positive review about windows phone 7 series till now, it seems to be a great operating system for windows mobile which is expected a different true really fresh kind of experience to the users.
Windows phone 7 series interface is inspired from Zune HD, at the first look any one would call it a Zune Phone. It seems to provide a mix form of multitasking in which every application is running simultaneously on windows phone 7 series, the only negative thing one could notice now are some few graphic glitches when you navigate through different sections of the phone which are called different hubs but as the this could be the early build so they wont be their in the final build in windows 7 series phones which will released by the later end of this year 2010
Home Screen aka Start Screen
It is graphical arrangement of rectangular and square shaped boxes called Live Tiles which present a good information about anything you are going to initiate with these tiles.

You can launch items at start screen, or pin people to call, get the latest information about their social activity and lot more, this start screen is vertically long as you can have a large number as live tiles in a vertical manner.
People Hub -  It list out all your contacts and other people whom you are following you for updates from various social networks like twitter, facebook and windows live network. It features a live feed of the latest updates from contacts into the people hub.

Pictures Hub – The pictures hub features the photo albums from PCs, Web services like flickr, picasa etc and it supports features like multi touch, swipe across pictures and pinch to zoom.

Office Hub – It provides you with quick access to documents and the SharePoint services across the Microsoft network, it has one note and other office application needed for business users.

Music+Video Hub – The music and video hub is the beauty of Windows Phone 7, the device seamlessly syncs like a Zune HD to the Zune Software installed on a desktop PC

Games Hub - Windows Phone 7 seems to be fully integrated with the Xbox LIVE network, how ever which games will be available to play on windows phone 7 and how this will work in real is still a question ?

App Store ? – Although Microsoft did not talked anything about any app store, but it looks like there will be a dedicated market place which will there in windows 7 series phones to get applications directly on the device, there will be an announcement about this in the annual MIX 2010 conference next month.
Conclusion – Windows 7 Series seems to be really exciting when it comes to awesome multitasking of applications, unique very useful user interface and seems to have a bright future. They have completely revolutionized the way windows phone used to work and display. Windows 7 Series phones will be launched in the holiday season near december or november. Still, there is more to be expected to come out about windows 7 series app store in the coming conference next month called MIX 2010
Can Old Windows Phone be Upgraded To Windows 7 Series OS ? – Cant say, this is still a question – they have not cleared this question.
